The trouble with stories is, that if you’re not a natural storyteller, they can fall a little flat sometimes. That’s why you’re here. How I Do Things
After you reach out with your inquiry, we set up a meeting to talk about your project. This is usually done either by phone or over Skype or something similar.
We’ll talk about what you hope to achieve with your project, how you hope to achieve it and how soon you’d like to see it start happening.
This call is important for a couple of reasons. First, it ensures that we’re both on the same page regarding what you’re looking for. More importantly, though, is that if I’m going to represent your or your company, it needs to be done in a way that not only seems authentic, but is authentic. I can’t do that, unless we’ve spent a bit of time getting to know one another.
The more I understand about your hopes, dreams and desires, the more successful this partnership is going to be. That’s why I send you a questionnaire, as well, after the call. The answers you provide give me an excellent snapshot of you and your business. The more honestly you answer these questions, the better I can capture your voice. And, it helps me tell your story.
I work on a flat rate system. Mostly to ensure there are no surprises for you when all the work is done and the final invoice comes in, but also because it’s just easier for everyone. Unless there is a massive shift in the scale of the project (like you suddenly want another dozen blog posts or additional five chapters for an ebook), the price we agree upon at the beginning is the price you pay.
The flat rate includes all consultation time research, content production (the writing) and two rounds of editing–if you feel the content needs more fine tuning after that, we can negotiate that separately.
I have a project minimum of $2,000 with projects typically running from $2,000 to $5,000 and higher, depending on your needs.
